Crowdfunding project of the week: Como Audio Solo and Duet speakers
It’s Sunday! The weekend is winding down and it’s time to see what’s new with the crowdfunding project of the week. Sites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo are teeming with innovation, but there’s also plenty of campaigns we could live without. The ‘Crowdfunding project of the week’ is a weekly series in which we pick our favorite campaigns and bring them to your attention.

Today we are taking a look at a couple speakers from a company named Como Audio. These are the Solo and the Duetto. But they are not your average Bluetooth speakers. There’s a few things that set these units apart from the competition.
For starters, these look very good. They are made elegant and simple, as well as classic. You can pick between a wooden finish or glossy piano style (either black or white). The units have round speakers, 0.75-inch tweeters and a square panel containing all your controls. It literally looks like one of those old radios at grandma’s house. It’s a vintage style many of you would appreciate.
Sound quality is also claimed to be great. These speakers have two 3-watt RMS amplifiers, and each 3-inch woofer sports a 4-layer voice coil. Of course, the Duetto is the strongest of the couple, doubling down on speakers.
But looks and sound quality are not everything. We want our speakers to be smart, and these Como Audio devices go far beyond simple Bluetooth connectivity. One of their main selling points is the fact that it can operate on its own. You can just wirelessly connect and play your tunes too, but the speaker can also use services like Spotify, internet radio and even FM radio; all on its own. In addition, it can play music through USB, 2 analog ports and 1 optical port. It even has support for Chromecast and Amazon Echo Dot.
Pretty awesome, right? By now you can already tell this isn’t the cheapest speaker, but it’s also not overly expensive considering what you are getting. Early Bird specials are gone, but pledging $200 or more can get you a Solo, and you can sign up for a Duetto for as low as $275.
