Welcome to the all-new Android Authority!

Hello and welcome to the new Android Authority. We’ve been working for months to give Android Authority a new face and today we can finally share the result. We hope you love it.

We’ve been through quite a few redesigns over the years, but we think that this is the best one yet. Take a look around and let us know what you think. Don’t worry, everything is still in the same place. This is largely a visual upgrade, though we’ve added a few features that will make it easier to get around.

Android Authority through the years

Why this redesign was necessary

Before we give you a quick rundown of the new design, let’s talk a bit about why we’ve redesigned Android Authority (again).

The biggest reason is we wanted to do better for you. While the previous design was highly functional, it was long in the tooth, and, let’s face it, kinda boring. It also made it unnecessarily hard to find our non-news Android stories, including reviews, how-to’s, app lists, and more.

The second reason why we wanted a facelift is the fact that we’ve grown quite a lot over the past year. Our traffic is higher, our team is stronger now, and our coverage is much wider and deeper than ever before. Which takes us to the next point…

You’ve probably noticed that Android Authority has several sister sites now (in case you haven’t, click on “Network” in the top menu bar and prepare for a surprise). What was just one scrappy site with big ambitions turned into, well, several scrappy sites with even bigger ambitions.

Android will continue to be our core focus, but we think there are niches in the broader tech media landscape where we can make a meaningful contribution. So come join us on Sound Guys, Tab Times, VR Source, and Charged.

Thanks to the new design, it will be much easier to discover great content from our sister sites, both through the Network dropdown in the top menu and the interstitial widgets in the news feed.

So, what’s new exactly?

Well, just about everything. Here are some of the highlights.

  • A revamped logo (don’t worry, our beloved mascot is here to stay);
  • Improved typography. A bright new color scheme;
  • A revamped main menu. Smarter search. Network sites shortcuts;
  • New Trending bar;
  • All new hero menu;
  • Edition selector (more coming soon);
  • An improved article feed including Network news, Reviews, How To’s, and Videos interstitial widgets;
  • New hub pages;
  • All new single post design;
  • All new review post design;
  • New product database.

Ads, bugs, and other issues

The latest redesign of Android Authority is live, but our work is far from over. What you see today is the foundation on which we will build and improve in the coming months. As such, it’s far from perfect.

Please bear with us as we fine tune the design, squish out bugs, and work on making the site generally smoother and faster.

We will be paying close attention to one issue in particular. Many of you have told us that ads have interfered with your browsing experience on Android Authority, and we’ve heard you loud and clear. We hate intrusive ads just as much as you do, and if there was a way to keep the lights on without ads, they would be gone in an instant. The problem – for us and the rest of the industry – is that avoiding bad ads is really hard. Unsavory characters exploit legitimate ad networks to slip in low-quality, intrusive, and downright annoying advertisements, and removing them is a constant game of whack-a-mole.

Because we cannot keep an eye on all the ads that are served across the world, we rely on user reports to weed the bad ones out. If you spot a bad ad – or a bug, or any other issue – please take a screenshot (we need it to identify the bad ad) and send it to [email protected]. We greatly appreciate your help.

A thank you

On behalf of the entire Android Authority team, thank you! You’ve helped us turn our passion into a thriving community and leading source for all things Android. And we’re excited to see where this fantastic ride will take us next. Let’s just say that we have some very interesting new projects in the pipeline.

As always, let us know your thoughts! What do you think of the new design?
